Mungbean, an important pulse crop, is widely grown in various regions of the world with Indian sub - continent as center of origin. The crop is vulnerable to different biotic and abiotic stresses but Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Disease, transmitted by whitefly, i s most damaging in all of its growing areas. Mungbean yellow mosaic disease severely affects the plants causing up to 100% yield losses. Disease management strategies are being applied at various levels ranging from seed treatment to various breeding strat egies and genetic engineering techniques. Enormous efforts have also been devoted to find out resistance sources as well to determine genetics of disease resistance. This review summarizes the available information on all aspects of this disease.
